Thoughts on Star Wars: The Force Awakens

After watching the first showing of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Thursday, I have to say it was definitely what the Prequels should have been. If this movie had come out in 1999 instead of Episode I, I'm certain that I would have embraced it much more than now. Age does seem to have dulled my sense of wonderment. However that's not to say that it wasn't a good movie.

Some of the rumours that fans speculated about were finally put to rest, but the movie itself raised a whole new slew of questions. I will be touching on SPOILERS from here onwards so please stop reading if you haven't seen the movie yet.

5 Random Musings on The Force Awakens

It's about 5 more weeks before The Force Awakens (TFA) opens. Now there has been much discussion about why Luke isn't featured on the posters and trailer? Is Rey a Jedi? Is Rey Han and Leia's daughter, or is she Luke's daughter?

As for me, I've also had some other thoughts about the movie beside the ones listed above.

1. Luke's Fighting Style

If they do end up showing Luke fighting with a lightsaber, will it be the way he used to fight? Or will they make it faster and more stylish like in the Episode I to III?

2. Will Leia die?

In the trailer, Rey is shown crying over someone lying down. That hair looks like Leia's. Well she may not be dead, she could just be injured.

3. Does Lando make a cameo?

It's been mentioned that Admiral Ackbar and Nien Nunb will be appearing in TFA. But what about Lando? So far I have not read anything about Billy Dee Williams reprising his role.

4. Minor Characters

I think that Poe Dameron are not going to have much screen time in the movie, despite being featured prominently in the trailer. Just call it a hunch.

The same goes for Captain Phasma. She looks cool and all, but Darth Maul was cool too and he only had a few minutes of screen time.

5. Kylo Ren's Outfit

Kylo Ren's outfit at the arm's really looks like it as influenced by Luke's outfit in the Dark Empire comics. (The Dark Empire comics are now considered as non-canon and are classified as Star Wars Legends, but i thoroughly enjoyed the Dark Empire Part 1 and Part 2 when I was younger)

Well I will have all my answers in slightly more than a month's time. Till then, I'm trying my best not to be exposed to any spoilers on the internet. May the Force be with us!

1st Post after a 2-Year Break

Hi Everybody!

I got caught up with some other stuff and haven't been posting for more than 2 years. It's time to start again!

So many movies have come out since then. Looking through my previous posts, there were posts from when Avengers had not even come out, and now Avengers: Age of Ultron has already come and gone. How time flies.

I'll be trying my best to do a post at least once every month. Cheers!

G.I. Joe logo in "Pain & Gain"

Just watched Pain & Gain and noticed that the gun shop that Mark Wahlberg and The Rock go into has a logo bearing a striking resemblance to the G.I. Joe movie logo.
(I know Dwayne Johnson prefers to be called by his actual name now, but he'll always be The Rock to me!)

Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow in The Avengers

Having watched both the Avengers trailers (the full length one and the one at the end of Captain America), we get to see Black Widow a.k.a. Natasha Romanoff (played by Scarlett Johansson) repeat quite a few of her "trademark" moves we saw earlier in Iron Man 2.

Shaft: Inspiration for Ultimate Nick Fury

Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury (left) and John Shaft (right)

I remember watching Shaft the movie many years back, which starred the Samuel L. Jackson. When I read the Ultimates comics, I recalled thinking "Hey haven't I seen this look before somewhere...".
